Seaplane / Float Rating

Overview

Explore Canada's amazing lakes, rivers, channels, and other bodies of water with a seaplane rating (or float rating) from Air Andrew. The seaplane rating is for pilots who already hold a licence, whether it's a Recreational Pilot Permit, Private Pilot Licence, Commercial Pilot Licence, or Airline Transport Pilot Licence. Pilots seeking a float rating may be interested for recreational purposes, although there are many commercial applications this rating is used for.   • Prerequisites

    • Must hold a Valid licence or Permit - Recreational Pilot Permit (RPP), Private Pilot Licence (PPL), Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) – Aeroplane.
    • Must hold a Valid Medical.
  • Rating Requirements

    • Candidates shall complete a minimum of 7 hours total flight time, consisting of a minimum of 5 hours dual and a minimum of 5 takeoffs and landing as sole occupant of the aeroplane.
    • To complete you must demonstrate a level of skill specified in the Instructor Guide – Seaplane Rating (TP12668).

Additional Info

The following exercises shall be included in the seaplane training: Taxing, Sailing, Docking, Takeoffs, and Landings and as conditions exist, operations on glassy water, rough water and in crosswind conditions.
